LIFT needs your help!!
Calling all former members, clients, students, placements, friends and allies...
LIFT is emerging from the dark ages of Tory Government. We are working to increase our ability to promote and defend human rights in Toronto, Ontario,Canada and the hemisphere. We are in the process of building a major project in St Jamestown, a very diverse densely populated and long neglected community in Downtown T.O.
Support for this project is building but we need to make it through the winter, and even then project funding does not cover operating costs. It costs only $600 per month to cover LIFT"s basic needs-phone bill, internet, insurance, and minimal volunteer support to keep the office, the bi weekly community dinner and the computer access room running.
We need you, any amount will help, but those who donate over a hundred dollars can get a tax receipt-just make out the cheque to Foodshare on LIFT's behalf. They have been kind enough to allow tax receipt for our donors as we are not a charity.
As you know, it takes money to get money, funding is no different, if everyone who cares donates a even a little, LIFT will rise again!!
Mission Statement
LIFT commits to strengthen the foundation of our community, to enable members to develop, share and increase resources, embrace diversity and create enduring, people centered initiatives.
Founder's Message
We are creating a place where all can feel at home regardless of status, religion, race, age or gender.
Many have found comfort and inspiration, some have found work and others have found satisfaction from speaking out and exercising their rights.
Access to information and resources can be very powerful when combined with determination. When people come together to effect change and build a community, the possibilities are endless.
We have a dream of a fair society where no one loses everything because of unemployment, where everyone's contribution to society is valued and everyone can choose his or her destiny.
Josephine Grey, Founder
